Distance Covered:

After an exhausting days windsurfing battling with a 8.5 in winds gusting 25 mph !!! (see link) Mag and I thought it was time for a ice cream :)
We left our van at the end of Bawdsey Quay beach and headed to the Quay where the ferry to Felixstowe lands and the ice cream van,we sat and ate our maxi-bons watching the busy river scene before heading along the shingle beach to the point where the Deben rushes in and watched the turns diving the the fast waters :)
We then headed up the beach into a strong ne wind,we only had t-shirts on but it was very warm :) We passed the impressive Bawdsey Manor and then the old RAF base famous for it work on radar in the second world war walking among the crumbling defences on the beach. We were looking for a way back to the Bawdsey road but had to walk well over two miles when we found the East Lane road at the Bawdsey Martello Tower past the eroded cliffs !!! Then we headed inland past the many sprinkers watering fields of turf and potatoes and finially back to the Bawdsey road :) We got back to the van knackered after over three hours walking covering over five miles,it took 5 mins to make pasta for tea and we watched the sun set over the river !!! So a top day and you you get a better spot to camp and free too :)
